This is actually a difficult question for me to answer unless I use a grey pen!

On one hand I regard Rick as the 5th member because of what he brings to the produced versions of the songs.

On the other hand, who is to say that if others producded, we would still get that unseen magic in their music, but with a completely different outlook/vibe.

Boy, I don't know!  Possibly have album version with rick and then have various others producing songs kinda like a producers anthology  Smiley

I can't imagine Rick not bringing his genious to the table.

One thing, to always trust that the right one at the right time will ensure their music will always feel Divine!

It isn't necessarily broken, but has been on repeat for a while.

Get rid of Vlado Meller.

He sucks so much balls that it is unreal....

He is the DEFINITION of the loudness war. He ruins alot of other major works by bands like RATM. Too bad he is linked with the industry and has such a reputation. He is looked at as the Rubin of mastering. Bring on the young, fresh talent! Complacency is the problem with people that high in the industry these days.

As for Rubin, he knows what works but he knows it too well. So well that he is hardly a part of production compared to your normal producer. That is good because over the years they have gotten their shit together and they know what they are doing. Vlado on the other hand is clueless when it comes to how the industry has changed over the past 10-20 years. That's why it's important to bring up young talent.

I totally agree that Vlado Meller needs to go as well. When an album is difficult and fatiguing to listen to all the way through, you know there is a problem. That's especially how I feel about 'I'm With You'. I think 95% of the songs on there are amazing, but they are fatiguing to listen to because of how overly compressed they are. This is part of why I feel Rubin needs to go, because he should have more sense than to let this type of thing happen.

If they try out Jack Endino, Tad Doyle (weird combo but I have a glimpse of faith that he may churn out some weird sh*t), or Vig. They have experience in some harder stuff and I think they'd be able to push the Peppers to go in an interesting direction yet again, though it may not be a wise move in their career as it's approaching 30 years (and hopefully another 10)

I like Rick and would stay with him but at this point, I wouldn't mind what happened. He's a legend still and made good albums, but the 90s were his heyday. They're playing it safe or sorry

A new producer could get them a different sound because it's getting old at this point. Rubin could keep them organized since he obviously knows what he's doing, but they need someone to steer them in a different direction.

I think George Clinton should be the producer on the next album.

Make it funky again!!
